Terms of Service

1. Who we are & acceptance

themath.com ("themath", "we", "us") is an AI-assisted math learning platform for students, operated by [COMPANY NAME], [ADDRESS]. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Accounts & parental consent

Accounts must be created by a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or older. The account holder is the parent; the student uses the service under the parent's supervision and consent. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity on your account. You must provide accurate information and keep your email address current — it is how we verify consent and send important notices. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Subscriptions, billing & cancellation

themath offers a free tier and paid subscription plans billed monthly through Stripe or PayPal. Prices, features, and any promotional pricing are shown on the Pricing page at the time of purchase; promotional prices apply for the stated period. Subscriptions renew automatically each month until canceled. You can cancel any time from the My Plan page (card subscriptions via the Stripe customer portal, PayPal subscriptions via the cancel button or your PayPal account); access continues until the end of the paid period. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable — but if something went wrong, contact us and we'll try to make it right. We may change plan prices with at least 30 days' notice before the change affects you.

4. The AI tutor — important notice

Our tutor ("Nova") is powered by artificial intelligence. It is designed to guide learning using the Socratic method and its lesson math is authored by our curriculum team, but AI systems can make mistakes. The service is a learning aid, not a replacement for a school curriculum, a certified teacher, or professional educational advice. Tutor conversations are monitored in anonymized form for quality and safety. Do not share personal information (full name, address, school, phone number) in tutor conversations — the tutor doesn't need it and we don't want it.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to: (a) misuse the tutor or attempt to make it produce harmful, off-topic, or inappropriate content; (b) attempt to access other users' data or probe the service's security; (c) scrape, resell, or redistribute lesson content; (d) use the service to develop a competing product; (e) create accounts with false parental-consent claims. We may rate-limit, suspend, or terminate access for violations.

6. Content & intellectual property

All lessons, story projects, characters, the Mastery Matrix, and other service content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright. We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use them for your student's learning while your account is active. The student's progress data belongs to you — you may request an export or deletion at any time (see the Privacy Policy).

7. Service availability & changes

We work hard to keep themath available, but the service is provided "as is" and "as available" — we do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may modify, add, or remove features. If we discontinue the paid service entirely, we will refund the unused portion of any prepaid period.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. We may terminate or suspend access for material breach of these Terms. Upon termination we delete or anonymize the account's personal data as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Governing law & changes to these Terms

These Terms are governed by the laws of [STATE / COUNTRY], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
